About the Item
Signed with the early "Mazer Bros" signature, this Art-Deco period decorative link bracelet was created in the early 1930s while former Cartier designer Marcel Boucher was the design assistant to Joesph Mazer as it features the recruited designer's established style of mixing silver and gold. Including a safety chain like fine jewelry, the tennis bracelet includes characteristic Mazer Brothers curvaceous floral and heart motifs, plus glittery accents of marquise, pear and round crystals to resemble citrines and grey diamonds. The overall impression is of sparkling gold and silver tones among elegant sculptural links. The high-relief silvery edges among the shadows of the golden links echo the bi-color design elements that are most prominent around the central flower-link with grey bezel-set and yellow prong-set crystals.
The Mazer brothers began producing costume jewelry together in New York City signed "Mazer Bros" in 1927 and a few years later hired Boucher. After Boucher founded his own company in 1937, a decade later Joseph Mazer went on to found his own company Jomaz, which includes a two-letter reference to his first name.
