About the Item
A rare Victorian ruby cabochon and diamond necklace/bracelet in yellow gold, ca. 1890s. It is bezel set alternately with five big ruby cabochons and six old European cut diamonds.
The rubies have a captivating red colour and beautiful crystal, are of Burmese origin and not heated - accompanied by a GRS certificate. The total weight of the rubies is approximately 35 carats. Such a collection of big fine natural Burmese ruby cabochons in this quality is very rare and collective.
The old cut white diamonds give a lovely contrast to the rubies and weigh approximately 6 carats in total.
The gold chain links have a solid, yet flexible, feel, which speaks for the outstanding craftsmanship of this piece. The dual-purpose jewel can be worn as a bracelet or, with the attached chain addition, as a necklace - with a clasp and lock system for additional security while wearing.
It comes in the original antique box from a German court jeweller.
The length as a bracelet is 18.3 cm and as a necklace 36.7cm - the length can be customised to be reduced or extended if required.
