About the Item

A rare three-color 18 karat gold link bracelet by Georges L'enfant, circa 1930. Maker's mark, Numbered French marks. The gift of gifts. This is an early, substantial and very stylish uni-gender bracelet by L'enfant which bears scant resemblance in scale and forcefulness to the ones often seen on the market. The perfect bracelet to embrace the bold wrist. This stunning statement bracelet is also a significant example of L’enfant’s work and of its period. It is a celebration of geometry and of precision in design, using large angled links as the centerpiece of the bracelet. It contains three colors of gold, with yellow gold predominant, followed by white gold in the larger links and then smaller rose gold links, to create a balanced tri-color design in gold. The bracelet is especially comfortable to wear. When you wear it you needn't wear any other jewelry if you so choose. Day or Night. The bold bracelet deploys the masculine/feminine approach of some of the best Art Deco jewelry of the late 1920s and early 1930s and is a perfect example of L’Enfant’s mastery of goldsmithing. Wear it and feel its radiant power. * as 1st dibs spells the name Georges L'enfant was born into the world of French jewelry design, and following several apprenticeships and studies, he set up his own workshop in 1900. L'enfant not only was a superb technical jeweler but he was a also a creative jewelry deisgner, putting him in high demand with the established houses such as Cartier, Mellerio dits Meller and Van Cleef Arpels, Georges was quite aware of his own need for posterity though so he established a maker’s mark in 1909, proceeding to stamp each piece before it left his workshop. L'enfant's son and collaborator, Jacques, later developed the L'enfant signature chain pieces, fascinated as he was by how the interlocking links could be arranged into a myriad of patterns.

Rare Hans Hansen Sapphire Ruby Diamond and Gold Bracelet circa 1965
By Hans Hansen
Located in New York, NY
A rare, vintage, cabochon sapphire, ruby, diamond, and 18 karat gold bracelet, by Hans Hansen, c. 1965. A collectors bracelet, a gem set design from the iconic Danish silvermsithy Hans Hansen. Begun by his father Hans Hansen, the company started making jewelry in 1932 under Karl Gustav Hansen. Between 1936-1938 Karl Gustav studied at the Academy of Fine Arts' sculpture school and took over the firm at the age of twenty five. He designed the first line of jewelry, called ‘Future’ featuring brooches, earrings, and rings, which sold very successfully. Hansen also employed other Danish modernist designers, who were to become famous in their own right, cementing the firm’s place among mid-century Scandinavian silver and jewelry producers. Bent Gabrielsen Pedersen worked there between 1953 and 1969 and was artistic director from 1962 until he left the company in 1969. Gabrielsen won the prestigious Lunning prize and a gold medal for design at the Milan Triennial while at Hans Hansen. In 1991 the company merged with Georg Jensen. Generally, Hansen made jewelry in silver and adopted the functionalist and Art Deco styles as inspirations. This bracelet, however, is a one-of-a-kind jewel, with the cabochon gemstones cupped...
