Pair of bracelets designed by Marchak Paris. These are a fabulous pair of art-deco geometric bracelets created in Paris France by the jewelry house of Marchak, back in 1935. The gorgeous pair of bracelets were crafted in two tones of solid yellow and white gold of 18 karats and parts in platinum for the settings of the diamonds. All with polished finish and accented with delicate applications of black enamel. They were designed as a set with tank-tracks motifs which allows both bracelets to fit into a single piece, turning it into a massive one. They are mounted with one-hundred-sixty-eight natural earth mined gemstones, such; white colorless diamonds, Burmese vivid red rubies and Ceylon royal blue sapphires. Both bracelets are fitted with concealed push boxed locks and hinged slashes for extra safety. Country: Paris France. Period: Art-deco, 1930-1935. Materials: White gold, yellow gold, platinum, diamonds, sapphires and rubies. Diamonds: Mount in four-prongs settings, with 56 calibrated European round brilliant cut diamonds, with a weight of about 3.36 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity. Sapphires: Mount in channel settings, with 56 calibrated French square step cut blue sapphires, with a weight of about 6.44 carats. Rubies: Mount in channel settings, with 56 calibrated French square step cut Burmese red rubies, with a weight of about 6.72 carats. Birthstone: Sapphires for the month of September and rubies for July. Weight: Combined weight of 187.85 Grams, (120.4 Dwt). Length: 7.25 Inches, (18.4 Cm). Measurements: The wide is 29 mm (1.14 Inches). Hallmarks: They are both stamped as a set, with beautiful French marks; the maker's mark associated to Alexandre Marchak, the mark of the eagle's head and the dog for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold and the platinum respectively, the four-digits serial numbers and signed in full as follows; "A. MARCHAK 1603". The House of Marchak The jewelry company of Marchak was founded by Joseph Abramovich Marchak, a young talented jeweler in 1878, in Kiev, then in Russia. Considered one of the great competitors of Faberge at the beginning of last century and sometimes called “The Cartier of Kiev”, the company employed 150 workers at the start of the Russian Revolution of 1917. After the WWI they moved to France and as soon as he arrived in Paris, Alexander Marchak opened a jewelry shop on the Rue de la Paix, at number 4 right next to Place Vendome and the Hotel Ritz Paris, where a large number of wealthy foreigners had flocked, ever since its opening in 1898. Collateral: These Marchak bracelets are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of these Marchak bracelets are excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 168 gemstones are secured in their settings.
