About the Item
Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Keypad Link Bracelet 2001 was designed to be a comment on our new computer age. The shape of the repeating casting is shaped vaguely like a keypad , with a concave surface the welcomes the finger tip. The rectangular shape is slightly curved, and the high sides slightly rounded to fit with the organic nature of al Morris' designs. The closure is a toggle bar that goes through the loop at the opposite end of the bracelet. Looking a bit like the glamorous jewelry from the 1940's, where scale and heft were prominent, it also reveals the iconic Morris style of repeating forms, creating a kind of visual meditation and calmness. He has often spoken about the love of repeating elements, like a Rosary whereby the wearing of the jewelry helps in lowering anxiety and increasing comfort. The gold plated bracelet is brass, and the castings of the Keypad forms are hollow and this is typical for Morris as he makes jewelry that appears heavier and thicker than it actually is. Volume and scale are important in identifying Morris jewelry.
