About the Item
This striking and highly collectible Selro bracelet from the 1950s showcases the brand’s signature dramatic style. The wide, gold-tone metal links feature intricately molded resin “Noh Devil” faces. The faces are inspired by Japanese Noh theater masks, specificaly based on the white mask of a happy old man used in Noh and the festival performance of the Japanese play Okina. Each face is framed by ornate openwork designs. Accented with vibrant oval and round green cabochons and purple rhinestones. The bracelet has an antique gold patina, measures 1.75" wide and 7.25" long. The back of each of the five links is stamped Selro with copyright mark. The bracelet is in very very good condition with only small loss of gold plate on the end where the fold over clasp attaches and mostly on the underside. The bracelet captures the bold, theatrical spirit of mid-century costume jewelry.
Selro pieces are prized for their distinctive character faces, rich detailing, and limited production, making this bracelet a rare find for collectors.
