Amazing orange leather bracelet features a silver-tone metal clasp engraved with the Ferragamo signature on the iconic “gancini.” It comes in its original box and dust bag. The gancini, which also serves as the bracelet's clasp, is an iconic symbol of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand, its distinctive mark, which has endured generation after generation.
In the early 1970s, the designer's daughter, Fiamma Ferragamo (daughter of the first Ferragamo), wanted to design a special handbag for her mother. Inspired by a metal piece found on the gates of the Palazzo in Florence, where the company's headquarters are located, he designed a model in which this clasp became the key element. Fifty years later, this creation remains the brand's recognizable icon, present in most of its creations, both current and historical, whether on belts, handbags, or as watch links. In the words of Paul Andrew, creative director of the Italian brand's women's line, "The Gancini is a precious symbol with a genuine connection. It is an icon for us that articulates and connects the values of Salvatore Ferragamo."
The brand originated with the Italian designer and craftsman Salvatore Ferragamo, born in 1898 in a small town in southern Italy. In 1914, he emigrated to the United States, where he worked in shoe factories, but soon moved to California and opened his own boutique. In Hollywood, he forged his reputation as "the shoemaker to the stars."
Upon his return to Italy in 1927, he formally founded Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A., establishing its headquarters in Florence. Over time, the company grew: it opened boutiques in major cities, expanded its offerings beyond footwear, and became a global benchmark for "Made in Italy" luxury.
Since its beginnings in Hollywood, Ferragamo has dressed stars, including actresses such as Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, and Marilyn Monroe. Florence is also home to the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, which displays thousands of historical designs.
