A stunning piece of Chinese jewellery made in the early part of the 20th Century, circa 1920. This style of Chinese Silver bracelet was typically made for the Chinese export market. As interest and intricate for the East grew there was growing European demand for jewellery displaying the stunning workmanship of Chinese jewellery. This particular Chinese silver bracelet is a great example of its kind and features the most delightful cabochon oval natural amethysts. The bracelet is made from solid silver finished with a gold wash often referred to as silver gilt or gold vermeil. The workmanship in the bracelet is exceptional showcasing very fine filigree work and intricate enamelling. The bracelet comprises 5 panels. 3 main ones set with the large amethysts and lavishly enamelled and 2 simpler enamelled panels at the back, that comprise the clasp. A truly fabulous version of this type of Chinese silver bracelet. The stones, the enamelling and the quality of the filigree work are without doubt amongst the best. The bracelet measures approx. 18cm long by 2cm wide. The bracelet is stamped SILVER on the clasp and is finished with a safety chain.
