We offer a striking, antique scottish floral design bracelet of both abstract and realistic design, with alternating flowers of montrose gray agate and rich toned scuptural, curved budding blooms. To spark the above are silver links centered by faceted, gumdrop yellow citrines. The closure is secured by a desirable silver and agate heart padlock. The gray flowers have been securely wrapped in their own silver wired flower form. View all the photos for close up shots of the workmanship. This type of stone carving is not duplicated in scottish reproduction pieces. All agates are secured by silver both back and front.
During Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's reign in Great Britain, scottish tradition was admired. The queen and her consort built a castle in Scotland to which they would often retire dressed in scottish clan clothing. They immersed themselves in
scottish history and lived its tradition. Scottish jewelry became familiar to the British populace during this period and was sought for fashion. Today, many lovely pieces that are original survive. Unfortunately, there are reproductions galore. We seek and purchase originals only. Brooches, bracelets and to a lesser extent earrings are available and worn as a statement pieces for the beauty of the color and form. The work to create a piece involved many specialties and was time intensive. The period of high production in Scotland was 1860 - 1880, but the history goes far back to the clans, each of which had their unique tartans and tartan brooches.
