This minimalist Salavetti Diamond Coil Bangle, made in Italy in the Contemporary era, circa 2010s, is a piece reduced to its essence, and as such is utterly stylish, sexy, and versatile. Crafted in 18K white gold set with approximately 13.35 carats of round diamonds, the bracelet sinuously coils around the wrist four times like a serpent. Like an eternity bracelet, the coils reference eternity. Like a tennis bracelet, the piece is utterly wearable and comfortable.
Established in Milan, Salavetti creates timeless jewels of unparalleled craftsmanship and materials, made by skilled artisan goldsmiths around the world. Self-proclaimed King of Color, the Italian jewelry house is known for designs ranging from incredibly minimal to incredibly intricately patterned and colored, often with a nod to the finest jewelry Maisons. This piece references the most legendary Italian jeweled serpents, the Bulgari Serpenti, first introduced nearly eighty years ago and produced in numerous spectacular renditions to the present day.
The Salavetti Coiled Bangle takes the Bulgari Tubogas style, or flexible tubular chain, and modernizes the movement and articulation. The Tubogas was originally a corrugated tube made of articulated bands used to transport pressurized gas patented in 1881, but in the 1940s, it was discovered by jewelers, who gave it a glittering future. In the hands of watchmakers and jewelers, the Tubogas was sensational. Its flexibility was crazy, a series of gold-threaded grooves entirely articulated by hinges concealing micro-springs. The Salavetti Coiled Bangle miniaturizes the Tubogas, making the bracelet delicate and infinitely wearable.
