This is certified to be natural jadeite jade. 99% of jade with this imperial green color and transparency are treated and enhanced one way or another. But this one is certified all natural! The very versatile pendant / brooch is set in 18k white gold. The dragonfly has colorful enameled wings, there are also natural round brilliant diamonds and ruby eyes and tail. The center imperial jade cabochon is a pure beauty! The center jadeite measures about 10.3mm x 9.11mm. Throughout the brooch are more bright green natural jades and Burma rubies. There is an estimated 0.15cts of round brilliant diamonds in this setting. Natural un-treated imperial bright green jades of this quality are rare and highly sort after. This Jade dragonfly is eye catching and mesmerizing. The brooch is very noticeable, it glows with excellent translucency. You can see this from far away! The pendant brooch is about 5.75cm x 5.5cm or about 2.5. x 2.25 inches. Photos do not do this brooch / pendant justice. This would be a great gift for that special someone. This large, well documented brooch was couture crafted by Robert Goossens for Yves Saint Laurent in 1986, when the eponymous founder was still at the helm of the brand. Crafted from gold-toned metal, it has a floral shape created from two layers of petals studded with glittering rhinestones. The centre of the flower sits a huge (< 1 inch) yellow-amber hued glass stone that glows warmly. This is held in place with four droplet-shaped rhinestones set in gold-toned metal which form strong prongs. Three petals hang from the brooch, each joined to it with a rhinestone-studded oval shaped plate. The back of the brooch features a plaque engraved with “YSL” and it fastens with a roll-over clasp. The brooch comes with the original YSL chunky double-strand gold-tone metal chain which it can be attached to (using a hook on the back of the brooch) so that it forms a necklace. The chain fastens with a chunky spring clasp.
This magnificent archival brooch and necklace set is in excellent vintage condition with no missing stones and no scratches to the gold on the front. Please note, there are a few very minor scratches to the rear fastening - not seen when worn. The metal has a matte satin appearance and is a rich, warm hue.
