A delightful antique Austro-Hungarian Brooch. A crowned style design in solid silver set with clear and emerald glass paste stones. The intricately patterned or chased back a hallmark of Austro-Hungarian craftmanship. The miniature scale of this example of Austro-Hungarian jewellery only adding to the intrigue and allure.
Often crafted in silver or silver gilt, Austro-Hungarian jewellery is known for its intricate designs, high-quality materials, and bold use of colour and gemstones especially red and green emulating ruby and emerald. From the 1860s to the 1920s the Austro-Hungarian Empire was one of the most powerful western empires.
Vintage Condition: Very good without damage or noteworthy wear.
