About the Item
This exquisite brooch is designed in the shape of a miniature round-backed mandolin. It was created around 1825 out of 18K gold. The body, the neck and the headstock of the mandolin are embellished with intensive enamel colours, pale blue and a darker blue and white enamel. The little instrument has four gold tuners. The frets are designed as pale blue rectangles with small elevated rectangles highlighted by white enamel in their centre. The centre of the body is decorated with seven natural salt water pearls and a little round cut diamond.
