About the Item
A beautiful late 19th-century brooch, finely crafted in 14 karat yellow gold and adorned with vibrant turquoise cabochons. At its center sits a domed cluster of round cabochon-cut turquoise stones, creating a bold, eye-catching focal point. The surrounding mount is richly decorated with twisted gold wire detailing and further accented with turquoise gems along the border, enhancing the jewel’s ornate Victorian character.
The reverse features a locket compartment, originally intended for a keepsake such as a lock of hair or miniature portrait, adding to the sentimental value and charm of this piece.
Turquoise was highly fashionable in Victorian jewelry, particularly from the mid to late 19th century. Queen Victoria herself favored turquoise, often gifting it as a token of love and friendship.
