Exquisite antique or vintage silver filigree brooch with three decorative spherical elements. Each sphere features an intricate openwork design resembling a flower or star in the center, a craft technique known as filigree and widely practiced in Spain as an Arab legacy, also frequently used in regional traditions such as the Charro style, typical of Salamanca, Spain.
Silver filigree is a delicate artisanal goldsmithing technique brought to the Iberian Peninsula by the Arabs.
It is crafted from a network of fine silver threads.
Although the technique originated in Mesopotamia, filigree silverwork reached its zenith in medieval Andalusia, evolving over the centuries into small workshops dedicated to silversmithing and jewelry, run by the emerging bourgeoisie.
