About the Item
Well executed seahorse motif brooch in platinum and set with buff topped sapphires, buff topped emeralds, diamonds and a ruby eye. Buff topped stones (sometimes referred to as jelly topped stones) have a faceted pavillion and the top is cabochon cut. This unusual cut provides an luminescence to the sea horse who is brimming with personality.
The 45 natural fine blue sapphires are well matched in their fine blue color. The weight of these sapphires is estimated to be 3.15 cts. The 108 fine white diamonds are brilliant cut and estimated to be very very slightly included (VVS) with a color of F/G (upper range of near colorless). The 6 bright green emeralds are estimated to weigh 0.24 cts. The small red ruby is estimated to weigh 0.08 cts. In total, this well made brooch has over 5 cts. of stones.
This piece is in excellent condition, well made, measures 1.5 inches in length and is marked on the verso 950 for platinum.
