About the Item

This vintage David Webb brooch is a refined example of the designer’s work in platinum and diamonds. The piece features an openwork layout built around botanical motifs, giving the brooch an airy structure.
The design centers on a stylized flower, framed by smaller petal-like shapes. As a diamond platinum brooch, it is set throughout with round brilliant-cut diamonds. The gemstones vary in size, which adds dimension and emphasizes the layered look of the petals. The two largest diamonds in the center are ~1 carat each. This brooch has a graceful presence that can complement both tailored and more relaxed styles, making it a distinctive vintage accessory from one of America’s most recognized jewelry houses. The brooch measures 3” x 1 ¼” and weighs 26 grams. About botanical motifs in jewelry design Botanical motifs in vintage jewelry design have an enduring appeal. Floral-inspired jewelry has always been popular, especially during the Early Victorian, Art Nouveau, and Edwardian eras. But it really took off from the Georgian period onward. Whether as the main element or a delicate touch, flowers were a favorite theme. You'd find them everywhere, from cluster rings to diamond brooches and corsages with flower sprays. Floral symbolism appeared in many pieces. Back in Victorian times, people made illustrated dictionaries to explain the secret meanings of flowers. Victorians loved using flowers to send hidden messages, so jewelry often featured all kinds of blooms, like forget-me-nots, daisies, roses, and tulips, each with its own special meaning.
Since botanical designs mimic the intricate and diverse forms found in nature, it requires a skilled maker to create a jewel. One of the most celebrated designers for their enchanting floral pieces is VCA. The Flora collection features a variety of flowers in many shapes and forms. From heart-shaped petals of Cosmos and cluster designs of Fleurette to the harmonious Lotus and extremely popular Alhambra, floral designs became a signature of the brand's collections.

Chaumet Retro Brooch 18k Gold Diamond Pin Estate Jewelry
By Chaumet
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A French chic retro diamond brooch by Chaumet Paris made of 18 karat gold and platinum. During the Retro jewelry era, scrolls became one of the most popular design motifs. In this brooch Chaumet perfected the fluidity of the scroll shape. The designer created a great feeling of dynamic in a static jewelry piece. An abstract shape yellow gold part smoothly rolls into a platinum element set in the center. The latter is embellished with Old European and Old Mine cut diamonds. This high-polished gold brooch by Chaumet Paris has undeniable retro style. However, due to its minimalist contemporary look, this French diamond brooch can be considered a timeless classic. This Retro Chaumet brooch is made of 18 karat yellow gold and platinum, and accented with Old European cut and old mine cut diamonds (K-M color, VS clarity, total weight approximately 4.50 carats). The Retro pin measures 2 ½” x 1 ¼” (6 x 3 cm) and weighs 35.4 grams. The Retro gold brooch is stamped with Chaumet maker's and workshop marks, serial number, French hallmarks for 18 karat gold and platinum. About Chaumet Brand: Being the first jeweler to arrive on now famous Place Vendôme in 1812, Chaumet jewelry has been staying an expression of traditional Parisian style ever since. Chaumet pieces have long been a favorite with the French aristocrats. In 19th century, Joséphine Bonaparte, the Empress of the French and the first wife of Emperor Napoleon, was one of the brand’s famous clients and appreciators. Fast forward two centuries, Chaumet style is based on exploration of all things of nature. The brand itself calls it “naturalist jewelry”. The Maison’s designers use symbolism of plants, opulence of gardens and delicacy of grass to permeate Chaumet jewelry creations with the energy of the wild nature. In the modern world, the most popular Chaumet collections are the Liens, the Bee My Love and the Josephine. About Vintage...

Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A delicate silver brooch from the Georgian era, featuring a pearl, antique cut diamonds and a 9k gold pin. Designed as a flower, the brooch has two old mine cut diamond “buds” and a pearl blooming “floret.” The leaves are encrusted with the old mine and Old European cut diamonds. The brooch carries beautiful, nature inspired flowing lines. The contrasting dark silver background makes the pearl and diamonds pop. This pearl brooch has a distinct Georgian era’s feel that will instantly transform your outfit to a sophisticated one. This antique brooch is made of silver with the pin made of 9 karat yellow gold. It features a teardrop shaped creamy white pearl (9.8 x 7.6 x 7.7 mm), old mine, Old European and single cut diamonds (J-L color, VS clarity, approximately 2.30 carats total weight including two diamonds of 0.80-carat each). The Georgian brooch measures 2 ¼” x 1 1/8” (5.8 x 2.9 cm) and weighs 8.1 grams. About Georgian Jewelry: The Georgian period, named after the reigns of the four King Georges of England (1714-1830), is a dynamic and evolving era for jewelry design. Early Georgian jewelry often reflected the Baroque and Rococo styles, with elaborate designs and intricate details. As the period progressed, the influence of Neoclassicism became more pronounced, with motifs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome becoming popular. Jewelry from this time was typically handcrafted, as mass production techniques had not yet been developed. This means that each piece from the Georgian era is unique, with variations that reflect the individual taste of the jeweler. Georgian jewelers employed a variety of materials. Diamonds were often set in silver, as it was believed to enhance their sparkle, while colored gemstones were typically set in gold. The use of paste, a type of leaded glass, was also common for simulating the appearance of precious stones. Designs were rich and varied, as cultural influences of the time came from symbolism and nature. For example, anchors representing hope or snakes symbolizing eternity. Cameos and intaglios, with carved gemstones or shells, were highly prized. Girandole earrings featuring a central element with three dangling components came from the Georgian era. Jewelry in that time was often designed for specific occasions. For instance, mourning jewelry was crafted to commemorate loved ones, featuring somber designs and materials like jet or black enamel. Such gifts as sentimental jewelry, with lover’s eye miniatures or lockets containing hair, were widely popular. We love Georgian jewelry due to its rarity and the craftsmanship it represents. Its designs provide a glimpse into the fashion and culture of 18th and early 19th-century Europe. About Pearl Jewelry: Pearls have a special place in jewelry design. These organic gems have always been associated with a classy, refined style. Today wearing pearls means having a great taste and the ability to see its beauty. Saltwater pearl jewelry...
