About the Item
A late 19th century fly brooch, the bee set with a dementoid garnet, a ruby eye, diamond wings and a pearl body, set in silver and gold, with a further pearl to the gold bar brooch, circa 1890, measuring approximately 2.2x5.4cm, gross weight 6.3grams.
This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold and silver, with 14ct gold bar and pin fitting.
This whimsical late nineteenth century bar brooch comes from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. It features a gold bar with a lustrous pearl on one end. In the middle of the bar rests a fly with a pearl body, a bright demantoid garnet thorax, glittering diamond-set wings, and a glinting ruby eye. The legs of the fly are carved from gold and rest on the bar. Colourful and sparkling, this piece would look lovely pinned to a silk tie or to a smart summer dress.
Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley
Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley
Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
