About the Item
A Victorian hardstone cameo brooch, the hardstone cameo depicting a profile of lady in Roman style wearing rose wreath, surrounded by a thirty five pearls, all set in yellow gold mount with scalloped edges and brooch fitting, circa 1860, measuring approximately 4.5 x 5.3cm, gross weight 39.3 grams.
Unmarked (all parts) tested as 18ct gold. Victorian brooch in Excellent condition.
A classic Victorian cameo brooch from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. Cameos, beloved by Queen Victoria became very popular during her reign with the pearl set cameo being a favourite design of the period. The white of the pearls and carved Roman profile is complemented nicely by the slight orange tinge and rich red background.
