About the Item
Eytan Brandes made these gorgeous, one-of-a-kind post earrings -- a very contemporary take on a popular deco chandelier design -- to showcase over ten carats of rose-pink and intense fancy earth-mined yellow diamonds.
All 340 of the pink diamonds are 0.02 carats each for a total weight of 6.8 carats.
The yellow diamonds are in the Fancy-Intense range and are three different sizes:
0.015 carats x 64 stones forming the yellow stars within the rosy diamond circles
0.025 carats x 58 stones mounted on the center bars
0.053 carats x 16 stones in the centers of the 16 rondelles
The total weight of the 138 yellow diamonds is 3.25 carats.
The total diamond weight is 10.05 carats. All diamonds are round and brilliant-cut.
The diamonds on the linear elements of the design (the center bar and sides) are U-set. The diamonds on the rondelles are prong-set on platforms like little wedding cakes, with rising concentric "layers."
The mounting is 14 karat rose gold for the pink diamonds and 18 karat yellow gold for the yellow diamonds.
These earrings are very large -- 3-¾" long (9.5cm) -- and with earrings this size, movement is important. You don't want them whacking you in the face every time you turn your head! To this end, the top rondelle is hinged, as is the lower half (the part below the two side rondelles).
Each earring weighs about 17 grams, which is a surprisingly manageable weight given the size and the number of stones, but these are exceptionally well-made, with no extraneous metal -- when you look at these earrings from the front, you don't see stone mounts: you see DIAMONDS.
Extra-large butterfly closures in 18 karat gold are included, and in the event weight is, in fact, an issue, we're also including a pair of reinforced backs (not in precious metal).
Signed by Eytan and marked 14K on the rose gold and 18K on the yellow gold.
The total weight of these earrings is 35.4 grams.
