About the Item
The chandelier earring or girandole (French, meaning a candelabra or branched support for candles or other lights) comprises three gemstone drops suspended from a single stone or a more elaborate motif at the top. The chandelier style, which includes both earrings and pendants, was first noted during Roman times, then reemerged during the Renaissance in the 1300s, and remained popular until the late Victorian period in the late 1800s. With revivals of antique-style jewelry in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, many unique adaptations of the chandelier earring emerged.
This pair of lovely Spectra Fine Jewelry Yellow Diamond Chandelier Earrings made in the 21st century, circa 2010s, emulates the warm flickering glow of candlelight. Crafted in 18K white gold, the earrings are set with pear- and cushion-shape vivid yellow diamonds with an estimated total weight of 15 carats, along with round white diamonds with an estimated total weight of 8 carats of F-G colors and VS clarity. The symmetrical pair, designed for pierced ears fitted with posts and French clips, could not be more enchanting. Three strands of cushion shape yellow diamonds in white diamond halos dangle from a candle flame motif at the top. The settings for the yellow diamonds are pointed at the top and bottom, adding an almost invisible elegant detail in 18K white gold that is sure to bewitch the viewer. The radiant golden flame is composed of yellow diamonds—three pear shapes and one cushion—set with 18K yellow gold claw and button prongs and outlined in white diamonds.
Vivid yellow diamonds are not only beautiful, but they are also rare and quite valuable. Only 1 out of 16,500 carats mined is a true yellow diamond. Yellow diamonds get their color due to nitrogen molecules that absorb blue light. On GIA Colored Diamond Grading Reports, colored diamonds are graded in order of increasing color strength, from Faint, Very Light, Light, Fancy Light, and Fancy to Fancy Intense, Fancy Vivid, Fancy Dark, and Fancy Deep. Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid, like these stones, command higher prices. Yellow diamonds often are preferred for their natural warmth. When it comes to yellow diamonds, a cushion cut is often preferable to a brilliant cut to exude that certain shine—the facets and shape balance the most brilliant yellow color with the utmost brilliance possible. These delightful glimmering ear drops sway with every turn of your head and sparkles as if catching flickering candlelight from a golden age long ago.
Measures approx. 2.5" in length each (6.5 cm) and 0.75" at the widest point; for pierced ears. Pear and cushion-shaped vivid yellow diamonds weighing approx. 15 carats total. Round white diamonds weighing approx. 8 carats total, F-G colors, VS clarity (all not certified). Overall weight approx. 28.20 grams, made in 18k white gold. Circa 2010s.
