About the Item
These stunning oversized clip-on earrings were designed by Mary Oros, a Californian artist, in the 1980s. They feature an organic-feel dangling shape in cast resin with a gilded metal coating, topped with a turquoise blue, white, and black resin cabochon that almost resembles mysterious eyes. There is no visible maker's mark.
Measurements: 1.44 in wide (3.6 cm) by 3.57 in high (9 cm).
About: Californian sculptor and artist Mary Oros created an iconic and highly sought-after jewelry line from 1986 to 1990. Each piece is made of cast resin, colored individually with vibrant metallic paint hand-selected by Mary herself, and finished with acrylic for shine and durability. Some pieces were crafted to resemble stones, while others were designed to resemble brass or silver.
The whole collection was an outstanding statement. Mary Oros's work was featured in Bazaar and other high-end fashion magazines in the late 1980s and has since attained a highly collectible status.
