About the Item
Clips-on earrings designed by G. Petochi.
This is a beautiful pair of clips-on earrings created in Roma Italy at the atelier of G. Petochi. The earrings has been crafted with classic patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished finish. They are mounted with two carvings of translucent rock quartzes and embellished with a magnificent pair of vivid purples amethysts. Fitted at the reverse with gold posts for pierced ears and comfortable hinged omega backs for fastening clips.
Amethysts: Mounted in bezel settings, with 2 well matched round faceted cut (10 mm) of natural purple amethysts, with a total estimate weight of about 6 carats.
Birthstone: Amethyst for the month of February.
Weight: 18.95 Grams, (12.15 Dwt).
Measurements: 26 mm and 13 mm (1.0 x 0.51 Inches).
Hallmarks: They are both stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the 18 karats gold and signed as follows, "G. PETOCHI .750 *24 ROMA".
Petochi
Fratelli Petochi was established some 136 years ago by brothers Alessandro and Giuseppe Petochi in Rome. The brothers, recognized for their strong attention to craftsmanship, quality and discretion, were ultimately "discovered" in 1904 by Prince Alessandro Torlonia who invited them to take a salon space in the Palazzo Torlonia, a famed 16th-century townhouse in the heart of Rome. It was this move that sealed the company's fate to become jeweler to some of Europe's most noble and powerful families, such as the Borghese, the Colonna, the Odescalchi, the Pallavicini and the House of Savoy, who granted Fratelli Petochi a royal warrant. The illustrious beginnings of the house continued well into the modern age, as Petochi jewels counted not just amongst the royals but also foreign celebrities and movie stars like Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn reportedly stepped into the salon to repair a broken earring during the filming of Roman Holiday, and from that day forward became a long-serving fan of the house's designs.
