About the Item
Silver Clip On earrings were designed by Margot de Taxco and show her identifying swirls and early Mexican silver hallmark. The earrings are raised sterling over an incised anodized silver pattern. The clip is comfortable with no pinch. Margot arrived in Mexico City in 1937. She married Antonio Castillo when he was working in Spratling's Studio. She made jewelry designs for him which he executed in the evenings. Castillo left Spratling and started Los Castillos in 1940's. After 10 years of marriage Margot opened her own studio in 1948. These earrings are one of her earlier designs c. 1940. Excellent condition 1 1/8 in high. 1 1/8 in wide
