About the Item
A striking pair of vintage tutti frutti–style clip-on earrings, crafted in solid 18KT yellow gold and dating to the mid-20th century, a period when bold, sculptural gem-set jewellery was particularly popular. Designs of this type became especially fashionable from the 1950s through the 1970s, inspired by earlier Art Deco and Cartier tutti frutti creations but executed with a more substantial, confident form.
Each earring features a circular, domed cluster design set with an array of carved natural gemstones, including emeralds, rubies, and sapphires, arranged in a richly textured floral and foliate composition. The carved stones are interspersed with brilliant-cut diamonds, adding sparkle and contrast against the vivid colours of the gems. The overall effect is bold, decorative, and unmistakably vintage, with excellent depth and presence when worn.
The earrings are fitted with clip-on fittings and are well balanced, making them comfortable despite their substantial appearance.
