About the Item
This pair of enamel dangle earrings was created in 1880 ca.
They are made out of round enamel paintings depicting a young lady in profile wearing a turquoise green brocade headband decorated with a rose. The young lady's dress is finished with a white beaded border that is reflected in the seed pearl border of the mounts. The enamel portraits are set in 14K gold mounts decorated with twisted gold wire and the tiniest seed pearls threaded on gold wire. The tops of the earrings are designed as stylised flowers. The flowers are decorated with natural oriental pearls and small emeralds. The enamel paintings are signed in gold colour with the initials SF. The reverse of the enamel plaques is covered in blue enamel and has written France over it. The gold mounts were created by American jewellers who had imported the enamel plaques from France.
