About the Item
These charming Victorian dangling horn piqué earrings were handcrafted in 1870 ca. The front of the earring tops are inlaid with small silver pansies. The larger round elements resembling large pastilles are inlayed with larger silver pansies. The sentimental language in jewellery of the 19th century frequently uses pansies. The word pansy in its French translation pensé means thought. Jewellery with the pansy motive was often presented by lovers to their chosen one. The larger elements are decorated back and front. Around the edges they are decorated with gold piqué around the edges. The earrings are fitted with silver hooks.
