About the Item
Garnets, the birthstone of January, are beautifully set in these 19th century dangle earrings. The earrings are made with fine cannetille and garnet stones set in a 10 karat gold mounting. The earrings have a rosette earpiece with a drop-shaped pendant below the top. The facet rose cut garnets are nicely set in bezel setting. The earrings date from 1890's and are characterized by their secure back screw design. Garnets are associated with the heart, blood, inner fire, life force and love. Because of garnet's resemblance with pomegranate seeds, the gem has come to stand for the safe return of a friend or loved one.
The condition of the earrings is good. The screw back design is specially made for women who do not have pierced ears. You can screw them on tightly so that the earrings stay neatly in place. They are gorgeous and ready to wear. The earrings measure 42 in length and width 15 millimeters.
