About the Item
These unusual dangling earrings are carved out of onyx. Two golden flies have been rivetted onto each earring. The body of the flies are made out of opal cabochons, each wing is mounted with a diamond.
In the iconographical language of old master paintings the fly stands for the evil. Therefore a fly on a piece of jewellery represents protection against the evil and the bad eye, it can be seen as a kind of antidote.
