About the Item
Antique Dutch 14 karat yellow and rose gold dangle earrings made with filigree technique. Filigree is a very refined technique that uses a thin golden thread to form a lace-like pattern or even fine embroidery. Each earring features very sophisticated floral decoration and it is finished with five tassels at the bottom. The earrings are made of 14 karat yellow and rose gold (585/1000). The closures are stamped with 585 that stands for 14 karat/585 gold content and the earrings are marked with an oak leaf that is the antique Dutch mark for the 14 karat /585 gold. The earrings are in good antique condition and they will be delivered in a jewelry gift box.
Originally, these earrings were hat bells worn in traditional Dutch costume in a province called Zeeland around 1900. The hat bells were attached to an under cap, and this was worn in combination with more expensive clothes on Sundays only. Because this is no longer common, and these antique hat bells remain beautiful pieces of jewelry, they are re-used to make earrings, chain pendants, or brooches.
