About the Item
Antique Natural Lapis Lazuli
Pearl and Seed Pearl and Gold Pendant Bow Earrings. Early 19th Century.
Each earring is separated into three sections, each designed to move separately, so that the long drop deep blue purple lapis lazuli and all the pearls will twinkle and glisten as they catch the light. These earrings were so artfully, exquisitely handmade and very lightly so easily to be worn with original gold wires backs.
Total weight 18.60 g.
Total Length 6.5 cm and Width 2.4cm (USA 2 9/2 in Length X 15/16 in Width).
•The earrings are made of 18k gold and lapis lazuli measuring approx. Length 23mm X Width 9.25mm (0.91 in X 0,36 in), with 2 pearls approx. 7mm diameter and numerous seed pearls accents.
Origin most probably Iberian. "Iberian" is the term used for 18th/ early 19th Century (Georgian era) jewelry from Spain or Portugal. When Spain and Portugal had colonized South America

Lapis (stone) Lazuli (blue), the name comes from the Arabic "lazward" (sky), and is not a single mineral, but a metamorphic rock consisting of multiple material. The main component that gives the stone its distinctive color is lazurite. During millennials has been gracing personal adornments. Deep intense blue with violet tones is the most prized color.
