About the Item
These beautiful earrings feature antique, mother-of-pearl Chinese gambling counters with motifs dating back to the 18th Century. Originally carved in China for export to Britain, these gaming counters were used like we would use poker chips. Each was engraved by hand with exquisite detail; different sizes and shapes were made to represent different denominations. These are original counters that we have made into an elegant line of jewelry we call our "Eastern Gates Collection."
The designs in this collection were inspired by the architecture of ancient China; each gaming counter is set in hand-engraved 18k yellow gold with brightly polished silver and/or blackened silver. The pieces all complement each other beautifully and are perfect for wearing alone or mixing and matching in various combinations. Wonderful conversation pieces that display beautiful craftsmanship, rich history, and a lasting appreciation of art! Handcrafted by our jewelers in Los Angeles.
