About the Item
These stunning earrings feature finely carved antique, mother-of-pearl Chinese gaming counters decorated with motifs dating back to the 18th Century. They are original pieces we have carefully selected and made into wearable works of art! Originally carved in China for export to Britain, these gaming counter, or "gambling chips" were used the way we use poker chips. Different sizes and shapes denoted different denominations. The mother-of-pearl gaming counters in these striking earrings are set in handmade 18K yellow gold and blackened silver mountings inspired by the architecture of Ancient China. What a lovely way to wear a bit of history! Please refer to the history of the gaming counter shown alongside our additional photographs of these earrings.
