About the Item
This rare pair of dangle Fleur-de-Lys earrings was created in 1880 ca. The fleur-de-lys are made out of moulded vulcanite, a material made from rubber or kautschuk patented by Goodyear in 1864.
The earrings come in their original condition. With the exposure to light the vulcanite looses some of its deep black appearance and gives way to a slightly warmer, brownish tone. By adding a careful drop of oil, the matt look can be made more shiny and darker. The fleur-de-lys are suspended from metal hooks decorate with black glas beads.
