About the Item
Mysterious and lovely, these authentic Art Nouveau period dangle earrings depict a pair of dozing bats caressing a coral bead. Suspended from the diamond-centered circles of lovely hued Sardinian coral, their wings draped languidly and are rendered in 18k gold with finely detailed repousé work.
In art Nouveau, bats often symbolize luck, happiness and change. Associated with Asian cultures as symbols of positive energy they were a popular theme in jewelry and decorative arts of the era.
