About the Item
We've had these ornate openwork 22 karat gold beads kicking around the store for ages. They're from Turkey, made in the 1970s or 1980s, and they were originally links on a bracelet.
Eytan Brandes used two of these 11.5mm beads to make a pair of cool dangle earrings, combining them with a couple of "gourd" pearls -- big white baroque freshwater pearls with long, skinny necks.
The pearls are 13mm and 14mm in diameter. (They're 19.5mm and 21mm long, respectively.)
The shepherd's hook closures are constructed of hand-pulled wire made of recycled 18 karat gold.
The total drop, including the wires, is roughly 50mm (just about two inches long). Note for comparison purposes that our creepy disembodied ear mannequin is life-sized.
