About the Item
Mercedes Robirosa Paris designed these rare long clip-on earrings. The pieces boast a dangling baroque style with gilded metal acanthus leaves complemented by poured glass drops in green and gray swirl colors. The gilded metal fastening frames are embellished with geometric red and green enamel. One earring bears the gilded designer's signature tag at the back.
Measurements: 1.63 in wide (4.1 cm) by 3.69 in long (9.4 cm).
Mercedes Robirosa, of Argentine origin, was one of Yves Saint Laurent's favorite models in the late 1960s and 1970s. After participating in the catwalks of famous couture houses, Mercedes Robirosa started a career in jewelry design. Between 1982 and 1986, Karl Lagerfeld hired her to design and manage the Chanel couture and ready-to-wear accessories collection. Beginning in 1987, Mercedes Robirosa launched her jewelry line. Her sense of fashion and design is evident in her jewelry, which embodies an earthy elegance with a playful sense of fantasy.
