About the Item
A stunning pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18kt yellow gold and topped in sterling silver, these incredible earrings begin with an ornate surmount. Five graduated Single Cut diamonds are in a tiara-like frame atop an Old Mine Cut diamond and another Single Cut stone. A frame of twelve diamonds, four Old Mine Cut and eight Single Cut, hangs below and their beautifully detailed setting twists around the gemstones, bringing the earring's total to a collective 3.5ctw. Incredible Pear Cut yellow Ceylon sapphires, weighing 2.25ctw together, are held within a milgrained yellow gold open-backed bezel and dangle freely within the diamond frame. The sapphires show no evidence of heat treatment; their vibrant yellow hue is completely natural! A simple yellow gold earring wire readies the earrings for wear. A magnificent pair of earrings, these would be a wonderful addition to a Victorian collection!
The earrings hang approximately 1 3/4" (including the earring wires) and 1 7/8" excluding the wires. They are 5/8" wide and about 1/8" at their deepest points.
