The earrings are a stunning handmade production in 18kt yellow gold with a variety of gemstone. Salmon coral and ivory button are surronded by 1.2 ct of emeralds and 0.90 ct of diamonds. This jewel is a unique piece. The handmade creation is manufactured in Torre del Greco, Naples. *** Naples is an italian city that is know in the world for Coral handcrafted tradition and heritage. Particularly known is the village of Torre del Greco. Torre del Greco, overlooking the Bay of Naples between Naples and Sorrento, is the world's center for the carving and processing of fine coral. During the 15th century, coral started to be fished extensively and worked in Torre del Greco, where the material start to be processed; thanks to the great skills of the artisans refined crafts started to be created, end dedicated to the Italian and Spanish courts. During the 18th century, thanks to the Bourbons, the town of Torre del Greco became one of the most important centre in the processing and carving of coral. Ferdinando IV of Bourbon founded the first factory for the manufacturing of coral in Torre del Greco. In 1876, Mr Giovanni Della Rocca, member of Parliament, obtained a decree which established the School of Coral engraving and Industrial artistic design in Torre del Greco. The town thus became one of the world leading centres in the processing of coral and shells, devoted to the education and training of young people in the art of engraving. Nowadays, coral is fished in Torre del Greco, as well as in the Gulf of Naples, nearby Capri and Ischia and processed on the coasts of Campania. Indeed, the Coral School in Naples is still the leader in the most modern methods of processing cameos and coral, above all in the mentioned area of Torre del Greco.
