Understated, elegant, and 600-odd years in the making. Rose gold and silver earrings produced using an ancient Albanian technique that was brought to Palermo, Sicily, in the fifteenth century. Lever-backed and heirlooms in the making, these earrings include 1.74 carats of rose-cut white diamonds, each hand-placed into blackened .925 silver disks. The band and base are 9-karat rose gold and the earring are 16 mm across and 23.5 mm long. This collection represents an art form that reflects the rich history of Sicily. In the fifteenth century, Albanian immigrants arrived in Palermo, bringing with them a unique method of jewellery-making which has become known as “cesellato”. Their descendants preserved the method over the next 600-odd years, merging it with new materials, fashions and techniques which arrived following each new invasion of the southern Italian island. The jeweller is a three-generation Sicilian family business owned and run by Simona Elia and her husband Natale Vitale. Created by Natale's grandfather, FANCS V has grown from a goldsmith shop into a design studio where Simona, who trained in Milan, contributes signature collections to complement the custom pieces Natale produces for a dedicated client base.
