About the Item
These unusual and rare pietre dure earrings were created in 1830 ca. They are of good size and have been well cared for over the last 190/195 years. The earrings and the mechanism are in their original condition. The oval black basalt plaques are inlaid with semi precious stones in different colours to make up pansies. This kind of stone work called pietre dure meaning hard stones was a speciality of Florentine workshops. The plaques have been mounted in earrings made from 14K gold. The earrings are made up from oval gold frames surrounded by rocailles. The top of the earrings are designed as acorns, on their reverse the hooks are fastened.
