Art Deco Marquise Blue Sapphire and Diamond Drop Earrings Ca. 1925
A matching pair of earrings, each set with a marquise shape sapphire in an open back rubover setting, two in total with a combined approximate weight of 2.20 carats, further set above with seven small round old cut diamonds in open back rubover and grain setting, fourteen in total with a combined weight of 0.30 carats, further enhanced with twenty two round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings forty four in total with a combined weight of 0.85 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.15 carats, to an elegant articulated drop earring, flowing with movement, featuring an openwork semi oval design with millegrain edging, finely pierced galleries and fancy open backholing, fitted securely to the reverse with a post and butterfly, approximately 3.4 cm in length. Earring and butterfly tested platinum, circa 1925.
