About the Item
Indulge in these extraordinary Enamel Rose Cut Diamond Dove Bird Earrings. The Museum Quality Jewels date to the Georgian to Victorian period. The pendant dangle drop earrings have an image of a dove in flight against a royal blue background with the golden rays of the sun piercing through the blue sky. The enamel work is of the very highest quality with stunning details within the wings of the flying doves. The setting is an articulated bow motif set throughout with Rose Cut Diamonds. The top portion has a fleur-de-lit design within blue enamel with a halo of Rose Cut Diamonds. Below is a bow further set with rose cut diamonds. The dove pendants hang from the bow and are surrounded by an open work design set with diamonds.
The earrings are gold with silver atop the gold as was the custom of the period to show off the sparkle of the antique diamonds.
These are some of the finest and most rare early earrings we have seen. The gorgeous dove in flight against the royal blue background with the sunburst behind the doves is magnificent.
The earrings are a dramatic 2 3/8 inches long.
The earrings are in excellent condition.
There is one tiny surface fleck off the enamel on the edge of one earring at about 2 o'clock. The lower level of painted enamel is intact.
The earrings are 2 3/8 inches (6 cm) long not including the hooks. They are 1 1/4 inches (32mm) wide.
The earrings test for 10-12 Karat gold.
