About the Item
These fabulous, substantial and scrupulously crafted earrings were probably made in the 1980s, and they seem to have originally been clip-ons (ouch!). They've been converted to omega clips (aka French clips) with a post closure and a hinged clip to keep them in place.
The gorgeous and well-cut green oval tourmalines are set in fluted bezels.
The diamonds are pavé-set in two carefully graduated columns of five stones per column for a total of 20 diamonds. These stones are full-cut earth-mined and untreated white diamonds; probably G to H color and VS clarity.
Crafted entirely in rich, high-polish 18 karat yellow gold except for the outer rims and the inner platforms for the pavé diamonds, which are 18 karat white gold.
Marked "18K" on the back. No visible maker's marks. (They're probably under the posts, unfortunately...)

The workmanship is incredible. Every stone -- all 219 of them -- is neatly backholed. Every petal and every ribbon is different. The stones vary minutely in size to perfectly accommodate their particular component.
The fierce green emerald pear cabochons show typical inclusions. One is darker and slightly larger than the other, just as the earrings themselves are not carbon copies of each other. The lighter emerald shows a small abrasion near the upper left prong. The estimated weights of these beautiful old souls are 3.2 carats and 2.8 carats.
