About the Item
These sophisticated earrings were most likely created in the 1950s. They are by the renowned costume jeweller, Joseff of Hollywood.

The Details...
These earrings are made from the famous matte gold plate, which Joseff used to construct his jewellery. It features an Art Deco inspired, geometric drop design. The earrings are clip on and they are signed - on the reverse of one there is a small round cartouche stamped with 'Joseff' in script form. Each earring measures 6.5cm x 2.25cm.
A Short History...
The Joseff of Hollywood company carries a great deal of prestige for both collectors of vintage costume jewellery and movie buffs alike. This is due to the fact that Joseff produced the vast majority of jewellery worn by the stars in films produced during Hollywood's 'Golden Era'. In fact, Joseff specially developed the brushed gold plated metal, which we see used in these earrings, as a suitable alternative to polished gold jewellery, which couldn't be used in the films as it reflected the studio lighting.
