Featuring delicate and pretty glass flowers, these earrings date from the 1950s and was created in France by the Louis Rousselet company for the designer Madeleine Rivière.
Condition Report:
Good - One of the floral drops is missing a petal and the brass of one earring is more aged than the other. These aspects do not detract from the appeal of the earrings.
The Details...
These earrings are constructed from brass. They feature a design resembling a lily pad or a seed pod, which is detailed with round red cabochons. Suspended from this is a chain detailed with seed pearls and red glass flowers. The earrings measure 5.5cm x 2.5cm. They are clip on.
A Short History...
Louis Rousselet was a major manufacturer of glass beads and jewellery incorporating his beads in Paris from the 1920s until the early 1970s. He produced pieces for the most prominent couturiers, such as Chanel. The beads were all hand wound and polished and, therefore, of exceptional quality. These earrings were created by Rousselet for the designer Madeleine Rivière, as the petals have been made in a similar way to leaves and petals found on other pieces Rousselet made for the designer.
