About the Item
A pair of Art Deco diamond and synthetic sapphire drop earrings, each earring with an old brilliant-cut diamond top estimated to weigh 0.2 carats, millegrain-set to platinum collet, suspending an openwork plaque of geometric design, set with old brilliant-cut diamonds and synthetic calibre-cut sapphires, the diamonds estimated to weigh 1.1 carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum, to gold back, with gold post and scroll fitting, circa 1920, measuring 3.7 x 0.7cm, gross weight 5.6 grams.
This vintage pair of earrings is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as platinum and 18ct gold, possibly later rhodium-plated.

Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. These earrings perfectly exemplify the Art Deco use of geometric form and symmetry in jewellery. The calibre-cut synthetic sapphires, typical of the period, and brilliant-cut diamonds are set on a stylish plaque which features sleek and clear-cut lines which are concave and convex. The curving lines of the plaque give a sense of downward motion and fluidity, which terminate with a romantic old brilliant-cut diamond at the bottom of the earrings. These earrings will add elegance to any outfit and will be the perfect finishing touch for an evening ensemble.
