From the Reflective Series, these Gold and Silver Claw Earrings perfectly illustrate the macabre qualities explored in 'Widows of Culloden', Alexander McQueen's 2006 Autumn/Winter show. In this version of the Claw earrings, sterling silver claws clutch 18ct yellow gold spheres. The earrings fasten via an elegant 18ct yellow gold 'shepherd's crook' as to allow movement when worn. By 2006, over ten years since their first catwalk collaboration, Shaun Leane was creating catwalk jewels with the unmistakeable characteristics and craftsmanship of fine jewellery. The Eagle Headdress created for Widows of Culloden featured a sterling silver Eagle head pave-set with Swarovski crystals and was finished with a rich plume of black feathers. The Headdress celebrated the inherent beauty of the Eagle's form and translated it into a fine jewel that complemented the exquisite tailoring of McQueen's clothes. Each piece of Shaun Leane jewellery is accompanied by a signed valuation by Shaun Leane and presented in a Shaun Leane box. Shaun Leane is one of the 21st century’s leading jewellery houses, celebrated world-wide for modern romantic jewels that push the boundaries of contemporary design. Sotheby’s auction house have described Shaun Leane creations as ‘antiques of the future’.
