Spain Blue Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Drop Earrings "Isabelino" Ca. 1830´s
Ca. 1830´s (1833-1868).
These earrings are a clear example of early Victorian jewelry, a subtle combination of romantic and gothic. Jewelers combined techniques such as claw setting and bezel setting. They also liked to use different metals in the same piece of jewelry, in this case silver on the face of the earring and yellow gold on the back, creating a nice contrast between the gold bezels and the silver settings.
The earrings are two rosettes combined 42 rose-cut diamonds in different sizes, total weight diamonds approx. 2 carats and two oval cut blue sapphires approx. 0.82 carats
(5.62X4.55X2.13mm and 5.70X4.30X2,30), with a handle that gives movement to the earrings.

The earrings are handmade ca. 1830´s but have been polished in recent times.
"Isabelina" Jewellery correspond to late Georgian and
Early (Romantic) Victorian period. The Elizabethan style is the one developed in the decorative arts -especially furniture and jewellery- in Spain during the reign of Isabel II (1833-1868). It succeeded the Fernandino style and preceded the Alfonsino style.
