About the Item
A Victorian suite of jewellery, comprising a brooch and a pair of earrings, each set with a seed pearl, with enamel detailing, in 18 karat yellow gold, with 9 karat yellow gold fittings (brooch pin and ear hooks).
This striking antique jewellery suite is truly beautiful to behold, made even more special by the fact that each piece has survived, and is still presented in its original purple velvet and blue satin lined fitted case. The brooch is set to the centre with a shimmering seed pearl. The pearl is set to the centre of an 8-pointed star, which is surrounded by a border of cobalt blue enamel. The star sits at the centre of an oval shaped panel, which is surrounded by borders of twisted rope. The lozenge shaped brooch is adorned with beading and glorious twisted rope wirework, creating a gorgeous Etruscan revival brooch. The brooch is fitted with a yellow gold pin and C-shaped clasp and is complete with a glass locket back, which can be removed and filled with the contents of your desire. The earrings are of matching design, topped with a large bead and scrolling arms, to which the ear hook attaches, giving the earrings the look of an amphora, which was a popular design during this period. The earrings are fitted with beaded yellow gold ear hooks, which are more modern additions, but work well with the suite. This suite of jewellery has a bloomed gold finish, resulting in a fine layer of pure gold at the surface of the jewellery, giving a soft, matte effect. The suite is in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
